There's something in the way I read it ...

Let's see ... I could be a three year-old teacher. That's baby Einstein or Baby Genius (es). I could be a complaint leader -- man, would I rock that job! I could also be the manger of the Chicago Sox, or maybe not. What a wild, wild day.

Robots

Robots, while having some interesting quotes, didn't entertain me. It had some bugs to work out of it. Bolts to riches story with robots and evil villians. Follow your dream, but you probably, like me, won't watch this movie twice.

Thanks to MR, I got to see this movie. Thanks for the beer MR!
We later watched COPS and HOT PURSUIT. Sadly, there weren't too many suspect deaths, despite their aiming at civilians and officers.

Police get combat training

Well, that's how it should have been used. Police in Washington find a transient's bunker. They believe he is responsible for the knife-point rape of an eleven year old girl. I believe that the police should have kept him in his hovel and shouted, "Fire in the hole", before dropping in a few flashbangs, tear gas, and incindary devices. Like groundhog Salem ... if the perp comes out of the hole, he's guilty. If the perp stays in the hole, he's innocent for six more weeks.

Breakdown

Boston, the East Coast San Francisco is defending a school district that, in one class, read to the class "King & King", a tale of a gay prince who seals his marriage to another prince with a kiss. It was one of, supposedly, many other instances of "diverse" teaching. I wouldn't call that diversity, that's gay! Why anyone would jump on the bandwagon and defend the school and teachers on that one goes beyond me. "Heat, oxygen, fuel", huh? Fire, that's what I suggest.

An Allentown, PA school covered up a rapist, allowing him to continue to attend the school and rape other children. Now, who you gonna call? I suggest in this case that anyone who knew -- prompt and instant firing. Administrators -- fired, fine, case aided in civil suit action. By some state and principality laws, the administrators who allowed the rapes might be eligible for rape counts themselves, in that they facilitated the rapes.

New Mexico sex offender is released two weeks after conviction, later enters middle school dressed as police and carrying weapon. Hmmmm. Is this person safe? Let me debate it ... no way in the world is this guy safe.

Hmmm the year of the porn arrests is not yet over and for that I am quite thankful! Arrest them, shoot them, request of the families what they want done with the bodies. Taxpayers should not have to pay for these people and will they ever be safe ... uh, no. As for the gay teaching in Boston, I'd suggest you get the blank out of Dodge.

I suppose next they will read from timeless classics like, "Village People", "Daddy and Earl Go Fishing on Weekends", "When Rick Stays Over", "Mommy and Betty Make the Bed", "Mommy Knows Carol Likes Spoons", and "Daddy, Daryl, and Daryl".

Homicide book review

Homicide Special by Miles Corwin. It is interesting that the Special Unit was set up, but failed later on due to lack of recent experience. This team was responsible for the OJ case. After that, they made some changes. The book includes profanity from the dialogues between detectives and suspects. The work, while interesting, is not good case work. It is for entertainment and choppy. The cases are a bit hard to follow, for it is written as if it were a TV serial (soap opera). While good for entertainment for some, I like more non-fiction, more science than this offers.

If you like fictionalized life with case-based studies and mild biographies on some persons, this is a book for you. Mind you, in deals in murder and rape cases. I was not impressed.

Today, I guess my message was

You push it, and in some cases much too far.

I purpose

on-site work at home for women and children. Somehow, I don't think, as good of a person as I am, that I'll be chosen to work with families escaping men.

Well don't that beat all! Here we take the good time to wipe out every last bit of husband/boyfriend and they appoint some manager who's hairier than than my old husband/boyfriend.

Gosh, Ms. Taggert. I sure hate to see you all riled up like this. How would it be if me and the girls were to shoot that man dead.

Well, that might help.+

GROCERY SPECIALIST, Menards

I kid you not, a real job posting. I look at Menards and don't think eggs, sugar, butter, milk, bread. I've been in Menards and don't see that either. What the?

take 2, pay 1

There's a temp company that is happy keeping people on temp status. Worse still, they charge principalities, townships, counties, and states whopping sums and payt out little. From the short experience I had with them, this company, sounds like smelly, had contracts with these governments to do work. They are wasteful and from what I have seen of the work, efficient only on one end. On the other end it seems to me that they are likely the ones to buy hammers for $200.

So this company partners itself with a national company but bilks government for money. That's taxpayer money, man, so there's my beef with it. I don't like wasteful companies, but if McDonald's were to choose Flakey Joe's discounted discount breading stuffs for their buns and the product isn't worth what they paid ... so what, they could and should choose another one. The people making choices for other things are not up for review. Their ignorant choices go unchecked and unnoticed by the general public.

I could venture a conspiracy ... padding someone's pocket, but it is just as likely that a stupid person in a position to make decisions, makes bad ones and is confortable with them. Why change, for then it smacks of, "did you make a bad choice before".

Back of the bus

Everybody move to the back of the bus

mid 2006, the year of child pornographer catching
2007, year that intollerance takes full hold and gays move to the back of the bus

Ted Haggard proves that gays can be treated and changed into hetrosexuals -- a lie. Snickers gay commercial, pulled. Picketing and protesting won't give gays rights for much longer. What they need now is to go back to the closet for a while. I suspect that late this year they can emerge from the closet once again, but shouldn't have the first waves be flamers or in-your-facers.

more wonders of looking

After spending hours daily looking at postings, I can see which companies really go through people. I would suggest that there is growth, but I doubt it. Moreover, there are many companies that list a job several times each day for the same location. Is that desperation? I know that I got a first phone call from some of these companies and a couple called twice (2nd phone interview). It is hardly surprising that some fail to fill positions. Once, which will go nameless, had a "good ol' boy" and "we two are in charge" mentality. I guess a question should have been, "are you sitting on his lap?"

The worst thing for people needing/wanting positions is that there is a long wait between applying and getting a response. If you want my advice, always have a job.

I have found some intersting things interviewing and applying. You will be asked standard questions for which you might have a pat and quick response, unthoughtful which may not play well. Better still are questions for which you aren't prepared that truly remark who you are. My failure is with, "What don't you do well?" That to me, always seemed the double-edged sword. If you say, "thinkin'" or "associating with stupid people" does the interview essentially end? It is a reasonable, but painful question. What should I say?

Anyway, I know where I am weak, but would rather not have that held against me in a court of law or in a job. If the truth of my dissatisfaction dealing with dogmatic, stubbornly stupid people were to slip in an interview, the interviewer might suggest, "you're going to have to overcome that".

"We saw your resume'"

Yeah, right. I keep getting in my spam catching folder, "We found your resume' on [search engine here] and found that some of your experience/qualifications meet our needs", yadda yadda yadda. I look at the email, for I have more than one, and that is not the email I have with them.

Eddie Murphy makes another movie that is all about him. Let's see, Nutty Professor, Coming to America sometimes disguised as a fat person. Now ... Norbit is Eddie Murphy chasing himself, one grotesque fat chasing geeky thin. Huh. Will I watch it?

Heck no! What a waste of time. This isn't a movie review, but rather a prediction. Movie is trash and forgettable.

Imagine Jim Carey and Jim Carey in some movie with a whole mess load of him, just him. How about a movie with just Robin Williams? End this idea of (apply coefficient here) Eddie Murphy in movie named Nutty Barbershop Mansion Norbit.

He's cured

Boy ... here comes the crap just dropped in the fan.

Ted Haggard got therapy for his gayness. I'm okay and not gay now. Boy, that's going to do wonders for society. You see ... you're gay, but with therapy, we can get that gayness under control. Now with talk therapy and Gaynomo (TM), those suffering with homosexuality can be cured of that wicked disease.

The DSM III listed homosexuality as a disease, while the DSM IV did not. There are schools of thought on both, but it has been the prevailing idea being gay is not a disease. This Haggard person in the spotlight undoes all of that. Now, back nearly to square one, homosexuals have an uphill battle.

I personally state, if you are gay, then you are. If you are bi-sexual, then you are gay. I don't regard it as a disease for many people do gay things, act gay, and engage in homosexual acts for many reasons. One, it is trendy to bend the rules, including sexual bounds. To do gay things, smiling all the way ... to be trendy, you can't then respond, "I'm not gay." You are.

Science, tricky stuff

When I taught, I tried to encourage kids to experiment. Often, what you were required to teach was scripted and measured. True science is creativity, messy kid stuff, a keen interest to find out what you don't know and the willingness to suffer setbacks. Now, the science kits they have at school are nice, but generally speaking, they are not designed for kids to dive in, be a mess from head to toe, then doing it again. While sending home gooey, messy, filthy kids is intolerable to most parents -- there's where science is.

I saw an interesting video on iambored with dry ice and soap. There were some people quite notable for the Youtube diet coke and mentos. This is science. It is a series of calculated risks with questions wanting answers. Take, for instance, a child on a swing. The first part is, how to swing. Once that is mastered, a person might want to find out how to swing slowly, high, spin, and many other novel concepts. This is science. I fear that many people are not given the latitude to experiment with things to be smarter and wiser.

Now, that is not to say that if you find a scar-heavy person that s/he is smart, but rather science-smart people generally have a history of doing, sometimes having no safety protocols. This, of course when young, might make some candidates for Darwin Awards or reckless people. When you have average intelligence people doing dangerous things with large materials involving others, is when you have more casualties. "Hey y'all, watch this", is a catchphrase for those about to die.

When I was a kid, I wanted to know what happens when you mix chemicals together. I wanted to know what accelerated and retarded fire. I wanted to know directionality and causality, the height I could climb and the height I could fall. I learned how to fall so that I hurt myself less severely. Despite my roughhousing, boyish destruction and rowdiness, I have never broken a bone. While useless in a practical sense, I learned how to mix flammable and non-flammable ingredients to hold fire in my hand without getting burned.

Science can hurt, but it requires experimentation.

Random words perhaps?

"anthony ! mugging it's histrionic in schlitz it's redwood see lanthanide" was the title to a spam message I didn't open. Now, If you are trying to get people to open a message, try English. Better still, trying English phrases or sentences that entice the person to read the spam message.

I like my "final solution" better still ... stop sending spam.

posted protest

Below is a well-shared email denoting many people's displeasure as to the government's weak work on illegal immigration. While this letter touts authenticity and that a woman wrote the best editorial, it was not the best editorial. I cleaned up the grotesque blatant English errors. While the all-capitalized words show yelling, it is pointless. The other very typical poor English and even poor literature inclusion was the double punctuation of "?!" and "!!". While I am dissatisfied with the falsehood it claims to be an editorial, which it wasn't and isn't, it has some valid points.

It underscores the unequal protection under the law. It notes where law should be applied, it isn't. It smacks of the application of bad law in robbers suing businesses and homeowners for injuries incurred during robberies. I included this post because it regards the sentiment of many legal immigrants and natural born citizens. I did not bother worrying about correct paragraphs or pagination.

...........
A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.
Her point: recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the U.S. might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.
Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I’m hardworking and honest (except for when I broke into your house).
According to the protesters, you are required to let me stay in your house. You are required to add me to your family's insurance plan. You are required to educate my kids.
You are required to provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hardworking and honest, except for that breaking in part).
If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there.
It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hardworking and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house. And what a deal it is for me!
I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.
Oh yeah, I demand that you to learn my language so you can communicate with me. Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?

Scamtronics

Are you tired of watching TV, not reading, talking or thinking? Thanks Not Necessarily the News and for those who upload the videos. Now, there are many TV series that shouldn't be put onto DVD, but they are. This series, I haven't seen on DVD, but would likely sell well.

cold

I helped the folks transport frozen food from the freezer to outside -- for it was cold enough. I was outside for five mintues without gloves and I nearly got frostbite. Yikes! While lovely, bright and shiny, the weather is wickedly cold. I don't think that it will get warm for some time. The freezer was defrosted and it was done in a couple of hours.

Don't Know Much

"Don't Know Much About History" is well worth hearing or reading. You may disagree with some of it. It is disheartening, disturbing, yet starkly refreshing. It is a more complete picture to fill in gaps in your forgotten history. Americans tend to do poorly on history reviews, so this might remind you and fill in missing pieces. It isn't too bad and I liked it. Of course, I like non-fiction, which helped.

Taxes

I didn't make much money, but it appears that my return will be okay. I didn't use Turbo Tax, for last year they screwed me ... where I should have paid $20, they charged me $70, so I said ... skip them! I tried Tax-Cut courtesy of H&R Block, but it wouldn't work. They gave me suggestions on how to get it to work, but it didn't do anything. So, I went with another company suggested or directed by IRS. It was a little faster than last year.

Putting out cigarettes ... my kind of game. I have yet to win.

Rap Lexicon

I had a totally stupid partial song in my head. It got me thinking of a retort. 50-Cent did a "song" called Candy Shop. Boy, oh, boy! Yeah, I bet there are a load of ladies that would clamour of some flake calling out to them that they get the dream, no the privilege to felate him. Yeah. That's got to be a winning line with the ladies, right? Hey, you get to **** me. Now, were I try say that, I'd get slapped, arrested and sued. I wouldn't say for the mere reason that it is rude.

The lyrics stemming from, "the pleasure's all mine" is all too typical for rap. To make an effective rap song you need: background beats much like a jack-in-the-box for 3-5 minutes. You need breaks in that, mixed with two separate, but equal 2-20 second samples of music that you didn't make. It is also important that you shun conventions of education and use urban language and spellingz and be completely incapable of reading music or know instruments by sight, let alone use them.

When crafting a song, make sure to use a colorful mixture of self-serving sexual monologue, megalomania, a real and imagined item list of things you own, how you can kill and have done so to get to your high place, a river of profanity, and include the word God or Jesus somewhere so you can say, "look, I'm Christian". What I find interesting in America is that while there are many populations of people in the Nation of Islam, you don't hear too many songs on the radio with rap lyrics and "Go, Muhammad go" or "praying to Mecca makes me ...".

In rock's history of development there were the typical growing periods where it started out raw, bad, terrible sometimes, but learned and grew into a varied and somewhat cultured expression. Rap, having fewer years is still young, and in many ways regressing. When lyrics of "kill hooker", "dump body on street" (Eazy-E) was hot in the early 90s, you have "do whatever the **** I want" and putting a "cap in dat [long-winded profane term and ending phrase]", "made my money on crack and hos" rap clearly isn't developing. Maybe, I'm wrong.

Maybe this is the theme for rap ... kill, gain, self, proclaim, sell, soul-less

I like music and would like to see rap, an interesting mix of repeated beats and some odd sampling, turn out something good, memorable, that you might want your children to hear. Shooting people, pimping, drug selling, weapons, stepping on people to get where you are ... is that want you want your children hearing as they grow in a society that is growing more intolerant?

Dear rap "musicians", wake up, think ... start writing lyrics that matter. So few rappers even put together their own music, so their contribution is lyrics ... the one and only thing they do. You have time then to make good lyrics. Make them!

Snickers commercial

That was gross! Gross! Gross! Guys share food, a cylindrical object between their mouths. They did something manly. What they needed to do was something straight, not "manly". Quick! Club each other with large wrenches to remove the memory!

That's manly! Gross, gay, do not press play! How about Emerald's commercial with Goulet?

Superbowl at Mr's

Well, MR treated me to beer and pizza. The before game show was Colts-centric, but perhaps the previous 2 hours were Bears-centric. I don't know. The show introduced by Gloria Estafan required the TV viewers to be on LSD. The halftime show was, welll, as expected unentertaining. I really wonder about the throng of people who ran up to the stage. Many were so young, I doubt they knew Prince.

Well the game was good, the first fourteen seconds I thought showed exactly how the game was going to be, but it was a fluke. Within minutes, Indy looked like a team ready for a beating. It was a grim day for the Colts fans. The rain came down throughout the game. Even the hawkers of overpriced goods hid from the rain. The second quarter came up and through that there were turnovers after turnovers. The Colts then began to score.

Obviously by games's end, the Colts demonstrated that they were a tough team and not the squeakers-by that I claimed they were. They showed a faithless person such as myself that Indy could win a superbowl. I couldn't believe this team that tumbled the ball away, denying a field goal and Manning throwing so many bad passes -- three in a row that could have been interceptions. One was caught by the Bears.

Manning getting MVP for the Superbowl game ... I disagree with that. Granted, the short passes won the game, but his bad throwing at the start, I think should have prevented MVP status. When the turnovers are high, look for a receiver to get the MVP.

After all the hype and fluff and pomp and circumstance you have the awards and you have a feeling-neglected puppy plain full of it wanting to play, and so she did. Chase the ball, chew the toy, run around, bite the sweeper. Fun, fun, fun. MVP goes to Maia.

Thanks MR for the pizza, beer, and surprising game where I was wrong and the Colts won.

Comfortable

Maia looks at ease here ... for she is at ease. She's resting up for the playtime after the Superbowl

Taking off to the Great White North

What were these birds thinking? Go to Indiana, while it's bitter cold? That's just nuts!

Shame on me

I didn't believe in the Colts and thought they would lose. They taught me, other faithless persons, and the Bears. They really did win! They didn't squeak by, but finished with nearly a two-touchdown gap. Gratulations Colts, I didn't think that you could do it!

Dungy did it very well! This will undoubtedly give Indiana a reason to make Hoosiers II, the other underdogs.

We've got Rudy, Hoosiers and maybe Indiana will host the Superbowl sometime. Wouldn't that be special?

scores

My mom was reading Parade magazine and mentioned to me that "This Britany Spears' son, Shawn, had bruises on his head and so CPS were called." Now, my stance is that if your applicable IQ looks like a good golf score, you should not be in charge of anyone else. Conversely, if your applicable IQ looks like a great bowling score, then you could be in charge of other people.

I use the term applicable, because there is a big difference between intelligence and applied intelligence. If you mix in common sense, you have at least three intelligences there. Letting your child run along a very busy highway, in one case I-465 around Indinapolis where goes travel 80 mph on average, is a sign you should not be in charge of others. This person's laziness and stupidity doesn't measure with IQ testing. Some of the more famous starlets and entertainers are like really pretty play-doh. They aren't thinkers, like you and I think, and are quickly molded into whatever the viewers want.

Let's examine Tom Cruise ... arrogant, pushy, bizarre, and stupid. I will stand by "stupid" because if you buy into, literally, Scientology, then you are a sucker. Now, religion (snicker) aside, if you have to buy into a religion, that's an investment. I would submit, investment scheme, for it protects itself like the Marcos family ... 10,000 shoes, pampered, despots, yet well funded and self-serving. I doubt that 50% of the scientologists ever read the book, which is much shorter than the Dianetics novel of old. I think of them as Yuppie Moonies or bankroll neo-quasi-buddhists. They are so far from right (in this case meaning "correct"), they revolve once and return to the same spot.

Let's examine those who follow Cruise's example, you get a child-like bride, then when she starts looking adult, you dump her and get a new bride. Huh. I wonder if Trump is a Scientologist too. This new bride "buys into" the schtick and another buys the rust.

To return to my point on scores, I know after taking some stupid IQ tests that I range from 100 - 140. I'll write that I am probably at 100 IQ, for what that's worth. I might even be lower than 100, I just don't know. While I know that there are certainly people smarter than me, and people should be getter smarter ... society produces a bumper crop of plain old stupid. Darwin awards aren't just for hicks anymore.

One-Minute Manager

Good Grief! The first twenty minutes was a waste, unless you're stupid. If you needed that, then you aren't a manager, period. It turns out that I taught like this. Who knew it was a book?

DUI, DWI, why, oh why, oh me, oh my

FW posted its stats on DUIs and showed Indianapolis as a contrast/comparison. If you will note that FW has more arrests and more fatalities. I would note here that FW police, while I have some misgivings about their efficiency, have done a great job arresting people. That many arrests with a smaller force and a smaller population is a very commendable effort. I'd say cheers to FWPD for their successes, not failures. FW has a great number of "watering holes" where the tenders don't much care how much you imbibe, as long as you're off the property by close. These same places have generally cash receipts that are not tracable. Who's to blame -- the drinker, but the establishment catches blame too.

With DUIs on the rise, it's worth mentioning that DUI is a blanket term for drugs, alcohol and others. FW has the sad fate of needing a strong police force. This city is a HUB and center for drug distribution from Chicago, Detroit, Indy, Toledo. We are not in a pretty situation for drug enforcement. "We need more men"+ I don't know how many people will read this and continue or start a foul relationship with the police, but I think they are doing a noble and successful job with DUIs.

Happy New Year, pigs

February 18th this year is the New Year for many people. I was not born under this sign, so no joy, no worries. I believe that Carrie, ISJ, Cerpicio, Monkeyjack were born during one of these years. Huh! Whatcha know 'bout dat?

I am a rooster, but what I read on one site lacked my boostfulness that I have--regretably and my creativity.

What's in a name

I saw on job postings a name of a company with "profits" in it's name. Well then. I saw what is typical of high volume, high pressure jobs, "generate sales" with the hidden (lots of them hourly), through your Hollywood index of millions of willing investors. Make lots of money, money, money for the company, company, company. In the scheme of things, generally these high volume, high pressure jobs truly work for only two personalities:

energetic, aggressive, slighly pressuring, sales person who sees everyone as a buyer with the right prompting.

or
energetic, sociopathic, aggressive, tromping salesperson who sees money to be had, regardless the cost; losing friends and family in the process is immaterial.

The less successful sales people either falter, skim by, or find that they aren't the first so temporarily act like the second. Me? I couldn't sell stuff to people who don't need it. I would Airplane+ process aggressive salespeople. I am not a pressuring type of guy, so I despise when others charge at me like starving people to a buffet.

+ Airplane, going through the airport Peter Graves is confronted by Moonies, solicitors of all types, wanting money and patronage to groups. He uses karate and judo to floor them all.

Warner Brothers flash toon; Stud driver. Fail?
To Cerpicio I once asked, "Do you want to get there fast, or do you want to get there safe?"
"A little bit of both", he remarked.

This is our tale, thanks to Warner Brothers for drawing it out of my mind.

Intelligence

I applaud the creators of this video. It was well crafted!

I also would like to mention that generally rap with these types of lyrics are at this level of stupidity. They might as well just say, for they aren't singing, "sex" for the 3.5 minutes of "song". I suppose this is the origin of the one-minute man.

Do you really think ten years, twenty years down the road you're going to put this in and think ... man, that was when music was good and the lyrics really hit my soul.

My city is going to go deep red like battlefields of old. The schools need fixing, got it. That bill is $500 million. The city bought lots of property downtown and will build a stadium, which is a bad idea. That is $100 million. There are infrastructure projects, which should take place over the ill-fated downtown project. That is $25 - $200 million. So where is the city going to get the money ... not us, said the the citizens. Not us, said the annexed regions of the city. Not us, said the loan companies. Not us, said the few companies staying because they aren't paying taxes.

So, the homeowners and taxpayers get the new bill of $1 billion dollars, payable over a ten to fifteen year period. Thanks, thanks, and thanks!

Phoenix man

To law enforcement and citizens, I offer this one simple tip: make no pretense about it, suspect is not to be taken alive. A hero's welcome to the person(s) responsible for the proper capturing and executing of the guilty serial rapist. We are not interesting in the live capture of this person. You may use any means necessary. Please include disintigration. Take a stand ... evil must go.

"O" words

GITMO, RITMO, what's next, RUTRO? RUTRO, Raggy, rear rin rubble! Look, if you are a face on TV and can't say your name, let alone a foreign name, you probably ought to bow out. If you're a reporter and you don't take the ten seconds to go to google or merriam-webster, shame on you.

I was asked in an interview to pronounce a phrase, "et cetera". Apparently the man had his fill of people striding with their airs pretending to be wise, yet blurt out, "notafinga", or go into "Open sarsaparilla. Open Saskatchewan ..."+

Cut to the chase, if you can't say it right, don't make a new word. There are famous people who make up words, but that should not be a trend. 50-cent. Those who respect him are outright stupid. With the spelling power of Mike Tyson and the humility of Gore-Clinton, we proceed with reporters who couldn't bluff their way out of a misplaced comma.

Rotisserie positions

There are a couple of local companies that tout growth, importance, "and other fine stuff like that there", yet have an old White Castle building, still white, still fresh paint and french fry smell. The one place in particular had a very odd question indeed. What car do you drive?

What the? I drive Herz and I'm a backseat driver. What does it matter what car I drive? They didn't hire me. I think I was turned off on the question, showed it and the hiring manager was put off by me. Oh, well. That was a long time ago. I do find it interesting that this company apparently goes through new "talent" quickly or are really growing at a fast past. I think the former is more likely. I think it likely that it was a more sales than promotion job.

I want you to sell 110% of last week. So each week, you are gaining 10%. After six months, will expect 130% each week. Then you're on the fast track to management.
"Kiss ass while you bitch, so you can get rich, but your boss gets the richer off you."+

The job description I got was, "Take these fine new products from big name companies and get them displayed and sold in local markets." Now, what does my car have to do with that? I guess, presentation is foremost, which is fine. If I look like a slob, then say, "thanks, but we have more promising prospects". The company started early with the carrot. I have interviewed with other companies that start with the carrot.

Now, you can view "the carrot" in two ways, neither positive. A carrot can be on a string, on a stick in front of you, driving you forward. You are never really going to get the carrot. If you do, you have well exhausted yourself and are quickly tempted by another. The other "carrot" could be one given to the pet rabbit. While the rabbit eats kibble and sustaining food, what it seeks is alfalfa and carrots -- broccoli. These treats are given irrepective of effort or work. So there is no reward. This type of carrot is well documented, though humorously, in Office Space.

No more carrots! I am looking for a job, seeking a career. When you have a career, you grow, and are "into" it. You instictively seek to learn. You give a care about what you are doing, and even the company. The tokens and tickets and carrots are demeaning and make people unproductive and the company less profitable. So, the company has 60% aggrivated workers, so little is done. If the company has low morale, there is little incentive. The low pay, lack of raises and the expontential gain (salary, bonuses, benefits) of some CEOs and chairpersons sucks the life out of the company.

Dilbert shows the pointy-haired boss, less competent than TV. The TV is a medium for entertainment that is disguised as fact. It offers nothing other than programming mostly for toddlers. This is management that moves up in the company, doing nothing, yet finding ways to remove inspiration. I know that in a city job, I won't be more specific, when a person isn't performing, that person isn't fired. Oh, no. That would make sense. The person isn't shifted laterally either. The failing flunky is moved up, in charge of people and paper. When he can't do that, he's moved up to handle different paper and people. With each level, there is less responsibility and more pay. In this instance, it is a government job and the taxpayers pay for the flunky to move up the ranks because of failure.

On the lower end, an honest person might be stationed as a door, only ever moved and not on it's own accord. Not all persons are doors, but a great many are. A flunky passes through them on to the next place, while the door remains. Look, you're a good door. You helped keep out others and let an person pass. You have a purpose.

twenty-three is a magic number

Schoolhouse Rocks didn't see this coming! Bachelor's degree -- now very common, yields "jack" for pay. Let's see. I owe $22,000 - 45,000 for student loans. This job is paying me $23,000. How? Why? What?
"I'm wonder'n if a shake come wit dem fries"+

Twenty-three should not be the magic number. Now, I wouldn't expect 42, the answer to the meaning of life, but between 23 and 42 would be more reasonable, especially if you have experience.

What colleges need to do is cut the waste classes or brochure classes which you pay for a couple of paragraphs of information and move on to practical and useful classes. I wouldn't even mind paying for them, if they were online and I could finish twelve of those in a semester or faster.

How about an MBA. Okay, but what if I'm not a master salesman? I'm a "betterer" as MR put it. I have lots of ideas and I can improve things ... business or otherwise. I can read and comprehend post-doctorate scientific journals and pre-school scrawling. I can examine my old ways and build on them, making learning and doing faster.

I guess I'm just burned because middle and high school were a waste, followed by the useless classes in college which were wastes. I got debt and the salary I'm offered isn't real. Then, I have other political grievances, and I get to shoulder the financial burdon of bad action and planning by the government. When the blood is dried my this stone, me, it goes to the next generation and so on.

I want companies to pony up to qualified persons. I'm not asking for $50,000, and not $40,000, but $22 or $23 doesn't cut it. Perhaps the companies are more like France in that the old, old, old persons there, older than the walls of the building are not keen on change and forget that education costs and that some people wound up paying for it through loans. Perhaps they forgot that when they were hired, they struggled with debt and no money and were thinking, "give me a break ... a raise, please". When the cost of living rises and the gratuities and raises do not ... the nation will become the welfare state.

Whereas the terrorists plot to overthrow the government and to destroy its finances, the government and its complacency with companies overpaying CEOs and shipping jobs out of the country, the US will overthrow itself given enough time. At some breaking point, there will be rebellion or the reversal of democracy, since the clothes-wearing pigs seem to forget that some are not more equal than others.

American companies need a swift kick in the backside. A bachelor's degree in a field, not general studies

not an "enhancement" ad. I have seen a great number of people with Christmas decore clinging to houses inside and out. While in Lafayette, the spirit is still alive or lingers with trees still in a front window room. I could summarily dismiss this as "white trash" laziness, or I could view it as clinging desperately to a dream, hope, and meaning.

I didn't especially like my minimalist Christmas this year, yet I am happy that I have friends and family, life and health. In fact, I think that, apart from insomnia, I am slightly healthier than last year. I didn't get my typical sinus infection.

I haven't discarded my thoughts on Christmas, my angst with minimal cash, and my vain efforts in other ventures.

miscarriage of justice

While the woman who miscarried her child is suing the officers and that is a tragedy, I would follow up with Liar, Liar's quote of, "Quit breaking the law, ***hole!" It is a shame she miscarried. That is a sadness and worthy of grief. What I think the media missed on this one was she was arrested. Now, the infractions were minor, but they didn't arrest her for being pregnant nor for being Black. She had a few items noteworthy for arrest.

Let us hope the jury sees it this way too.

Coming to a bookstored married to Starbucks near you.

Let me read through the books, with the knowledge that they are children's books.
Philospher's/Sorcorer's Stone: neat intro, humor, saving poor Harry and he find's he is someone in the Wizardry world. It is an okay book, bordering on very good. It was a start and finish that could either lead to other books as it did or end.
Chamber of Secrets: introduces deception and disguises, characters develop and grow, but not as well written as book 1
Prisoner of Azkaban: more fearsome creatures, new threats, new friends
Goblet of Fire: longer than other others, intriguing, two murders, more talk about wizardry, you know ... the backdrop to the book. By far, my favorite in the series.
Order of the Pheonix: 600 pages too long, angry was Harry and the reader as they sifted through the chapters of false starts. Nose goblins and the Weasley brothers were the only two highlights
Half-Blood Prince: better than OoP, but weak in so many ways and for so many reasons. Rowling has still kept Snape elusive in this book ... on which side is he. She has never revealed his true nature, unless "A muse has no place in battle. I was an artist!"+

If it was done like book 5 -- it'll blow nose goblins, if done like the highlights of the other books, it'll be grand.

Progress Smarter

That is my new philosphy, or rather my voiced philosophy. It has been one I have had. Progress, meaning to move forward. I try to gain something every day. I'd like to gain something from every experience, but sometimes I find little gain in some things. Today I had a two-hour interview. It went pretty well, I think. I don't believe in luck, but in fortunate randomness. I still not mention the name of the company for when I tout promise, even to myself, it often goes awry, falters then fails. Either it is related to my mentioning it, my subconscious dooming it, or it isn't in the stars (doubtful).

God willing, I will get a job soon -- better still, a career that challenges and rewards.

I learned quite a bit about a few things, hopefully I'll retain the important and remember the unimportant. I feel that today I can truly progress smarter.

Death's Acre

Well, the book was more of an autobiography, but contained some anecdotes, cases and defined the basis and development of the body farm in Tennessee. In the book, the author, in his seventies now, mentions his third marriage. His first two wives died. He is a heavy smoker and didn't develop too much trouble from the habit, but his first wife developed aggressive cancer. This was worsened by smoke. His second wife died, as then did his faith. I suppose the lesson is, treat others well.

book review

Death's Acre, forensic pathologist Dr. Bass recalls the development of the "body farm". His book is interesting because he points out his errors lead him to excellence. The body farm, a thought in his mind, decades later comes into being. His work in interesting, detailed and he includes history, annecdotes, and humor. I would certainly reccomend this book to those who find forensic study intersting.

Did I mention I was stupid?

I looked at an email or cover letter I sent. I removed the "resources" but left "human", so I sent Dear Human [person's name]. I suppose profanity is in order, but I'll stick with "I'm with stupid", arrow pointing to face.

on the backs of the workers

Yet another missuse of people and their abilities:
bilingual Spanish & English paid $9 per hour. Now, normally, if you are schooled and trained with a skill, like a language, you get a bump in pay. I guess they expect people to be bilingual and don't plan on playing any more for that person's ability, regarless how s/he obtained it.

putting BS to work

I saw two jobs in which the illustrious companies were offering to pay the rate of $10 per hour and one was < $8. Let's see. Applicant went to school and paid $25000 or more for a bachelors and you are willing to pay $15,500 - $20,000. If you don't get a lot of takers, understand that you want the impossible. The entry title is one catch phrase used by a company to entice people to use their degree. Um ... how?

Cosmos & Cosmos (forgotten entry)

Carl Sagan's Cosmos was an interesting show. I found them and watch them every now and then. A very interesting point made was in perception and limits. "What is the shape of the universe?" "What is the shape of time?"
Before seeing this show or shortly after seeing it in the 70s I thought some deep thoughts about limits.

In a sense, this episode delves into the bigger questions: is the universe expanding? What then is the universe's shape? If the universe is flat (remind yourself of Christopher Columbus)? At each level, all things on "lower" levels seem particularly fast, while all things on "greater" levels seem particularly slow. Is it possible that there is a cycle to what we consider existence? Each new creation then is different than the last.

Then I move on to Cosmos, a local restaurant that closed a building in a poorer section, in favor of keeping the north location. It wasn't my cup of tea, but the folks mentioned it, as they had been there on a few occasions. My father visted there more often due to golfing near there sometimes.

Let's hear it for the good folks here!

Consumer Reports is a great little magazine. Not only is it helpful, but they have growing sections that are funny. "Selling It" features poor placement and adverising, much like This is Broken site. They announce "Black Hole Awards" that are given to products and companies wasting space, like a 9 cubic foot box for an over-sized bottle of aspirin. They have the "Oyster Awards" for difficult to open packages.

This newest magazine I got, I've been a subscriber for years, is very funny. Thanks Consumer Reports and Comsumers' Union for the decades of successes and work. May Susuki bite their tongues regarding their litigations against your rightful statesments.

interesting for the wrong reasons

PHILADELPHIA — Indiana had the third-highest rate of black homicides in the nation last year, trailing only Pennsylvania and Louisiana, according to a study released Monday by a nonprofit research group.

Firearms, especially handguns, were used in the overwhelming majority of the nation’s 6,644 slayings with black victims, according to the Violence Policy Center, which supports gun-control efforts. Eighty-five percent of black victims were male.

Pennsylvania recorded 29.52 homicides per 100,000 black residents in 2004, the last year for which the FBI data was available, while Louisiana followed closely behind at 29.48, and Indiana was third with 29.3.

The national rate of black homicides was 18.71 per 100,000.

The national homicide rate overall was 4.86 per 100,000, and the national rate for whites was 2.97 homicides per 100,000, the group reported.

For cases in which the weapon could be identified, 79 percent of the victims were killed with guns, and 80 percent of those deaths involved handguns, the study found.

........... article copied because by the wonders of the press, this article wasn't found on AP, so I couldn't link to it.
What you might have missed is that "black" is lower case, instead of uppercase as it is generally printed. The report isn't from last year, nor the year before, but rather 2004. Lastly, this will undoubtedly be used as a platform for a loudmouth pushy guy ... Jessie Jackson comes to mind to make some statement distantly related to something related to something important.

News Tip

If someone has to tell you he or she is God or Christ, that person is a liar! When comes needs you, you don't need to ask who God is, you know at that moment you should do it. If God approaches you, you'll know. If Jesus sits next to you and wants to reveal himself as Christ, he doesn't have to say a word.

Haven't there been enough David Koresh's, Jim Jones, and others to clearly and definitively point out that those claiming to be Jesus and the Christ are liars?

60 year old man claiming his is Christ, huh ... not shocking. The fact that stupid desperate people are following him, not shocking. Newsweek covering it, shock --- not shocking. I guess I'm done typing here.

Snow, powdery snow

It was nice having powdery snow to move, unlike the wet slush Indiana usually gets. I forgot to mention that at 7:30, my butt and the rest of me was asleep. The doorbell rang. What the? Who the? Why the? I plopped, really, out of bed and peered out the window. A lone, unfamiliar white car on the street, a person nearby. I walked downstairs, nearly tumbling, and answered the door, shirtless. The guy called out through the wind and dark, "d'ya want me ta do da dr ..."
"No!"

That guy woke my sorry tail for that? I had finally gone to sleep fairly early for me and got some rest. I actually fell back asleep after that and snoozed longer. A fierce truck was moving snow from a neighbor's drive. I think he was a son-in-law, but am unsure. Okay ... okay, I'll get moving. I drank coffee and headed out into the windy cold. After snowblowing two drives, I returned to get a scarf. The wind continually blew the snow back into my face. It was miserable.

Still, the moving was faster since it was powder.

I made chili, which I thought was going to be too spicy, but was just fine. Now, it sits and grows in my gut. I wonder if I made stomach beer? It seems to be producing gas out the top. I'm sure later it will expell out the back too.

eleven minus twleve

It isn't an equation, it was the temperature today and how it felt with "wind chill factor". -12 ... cold, cold, cold. It isn't rare, but odd considering the relative wimpy Winter we've had. I stepped out of my vehicle only a few times to take a couple of shots. I finally felt the unblocked wind and yikes, scurried back to the warmth of the recently running van for comfort. What a wimp!

I got to see what FW might be, with lots of businesses -- Lafayette and her sister West Lafayette. I was in Fishers (Indy) this morning driving for 75 mintues in the dark, which relented to charcoal and black like waste oil. Finally, at 8:08, the sun lovingly shown and brightened the city. Around Fishers the traffic nearly stopped. I heard on a radio ad about the "fastest way to warm your car is to drive it". The irony of me idling in traffic was not lost on me. It was an ad about the environment.

I got to my first interview early and needed it. I wondered within the building not finding the suite. On a door of another suite, was a handwritten note -- [name of comapny] is at end of hall. I then had time to spend before going to Lafayette. I looked for a coffee shop with wi-fi. I couldn't find a coffee shop, let alone one with wi-fi. I traveled up 65 was is starkly different than I-69. It is rough, not as well maintained. Also, the shanties are more visible than those on I-69. That's sad, really.

Throughout Indy there was Colts spirit. Sadly, the place I went this morning had "COLTS" printed correctly in the window, which means passersby would see colts backwars ... not well thought.

The man who interviewed my this afternoon was in a different field himself -- "someone who helped sex offenders , molesters. Some of them were M.R.+." At the end, he stated that I seemed like the best person he'd met so far and that he only had one person left. Well, that's hopeful.

This morning's interviewer was as frail as a Valentine's rose in April. She was probably my age, but noticeably frail.

I watched this video, then pow!

I got a really bad feeling about this. I think the movie was called "One Week".

How would you like to be remembered?

Ronald Reagan, younger, as governor long-since an actor, but with Hollywood ties. He was on Dean Martin's Roast for at least two celebrities. If you are a fan of Reagan, this small glipse is a better portrait and way to remember him.

I'll have to work on Nixon ... he's a toughee.

Famous or not, I'd rather be remembered for a modicum of humility and humor.

Winter winner and whiner

Super Bowl XLI

For Indiana XLI is for Superbowl eXtra Large one, in that Indy is there and Chicago is there. Hooray; hoorah; the gang's all here! Yesiree, dis here game, da Bears and the Colts will be legendary. Either Colts win be a respectable 2nd or pull out a win. I'm still thinking that da Bears will win. I posted early that I think the spread will be 12 points, but I believe that I should drop that a bit. With the possibility of injury recoveries, I'll drop the point spread to 9. Bears should win by 9 points, but not likely 12.

Indy will have its larger dome and might sometime host the superbowl. I just hope that the Colts have this new dome and putter out after this year. "Looks like we made it ... " sadly droning on in the background, Shania's voice echoing, not the intentionally love song, but rather Colts losing focus.

Politics aside, the fanfare of the first two African-American (Black) head coaches making it to the Superbowl, I believe that they will, will, get some real hefty raises, regardless the outcome. You got your team to the Superbowl? Here's x (current salary), whereas x is a number between 2 and 9 inclusively. Ah, I see you've solved x for 12, very good.

week 2

I have looked through the job postings and found that FW still isn't hiring. Indy, Lafayette, and the Gary area area.

House of Flying Daggers was Over the Hedge

House of Flying Daggers started with dance choreography, featuring the accomplished dancer Ziyi Zhang. If you remove the beauty of the dance, you are left with a sloppy Bazooka Joe comic of a story. While the themes are culturally specific and the lust curtailed by duty and implied love, it is nontheless a sour mash of bad dialogue and circumstances. The Spy Kids animation in the movie takes away from the already weak story. It was all visual, so, technically you could strip away the soundtrack and replace it. I saw the English version, which was weaker still. Overall they did an alright sound remaster, but sound is intrinsically valuable in a movie about a blind woman/girl who uses sound. It was like watching an aquarium, while you were entertained visually, in the end you wonder why you sat that long.

Over the Hedge slipped into the area of one half of an idea with thirteen other ideas glued together for a miss. I like Wanda Sykes, but she wasn't enough to save it. When your star line up is Gary Shandling and Bruce Willis, well disaster looms. Hammy getty loopy on caffiene, where have I seen that before, oh yes ... in a better movie, Hoodwinked. Thomas Haden-Church as an overstuffed terminator -- nice touch. The movie's conclusion was just terrible. I tried to put it in perspective for a child, but the bear, "I'm going to kill you" and a few other adult references make me rate this one poor. The link of this to the comic strip is a S - T - R - E - T - C - H. I doubt that anyone watching the movie would hurry to start reading the comic.

Summarized:
House of Flying Daggers, visually interesting and that's where it ends. Over the Hedge, overdone with some samples of clever scenes.

down home

Well, I was greeted well by my niece at Purdue when I was there to take her home.
As a side note, many girls there have long since worried about guys in the hallway. My niece and I were getting into the elevator when a girl walked through the hall wearing only her towel. She looked at me, smiled (perhaps to herself) and walked on to her room, I suspect. She was non-stop excited chattering.

When I got to her home, her sister, another niece of mine, first bounced like Tigger out the door and across the lawn to greet her sister. She then bounced over to me and happily hugged me. I was a good man to have brought her sister. I guess I serve a purpose afterall.

Angel, the dog, greeted me, but was especially happy to see my niece from college. A quick observation and there was something wrong with poor Angel. According to my niece, she has a fungal infection in a private area, quite dark, mutant growth noticeable. I presume she is on an anti-biotic medicine. While I was given no incling that she would call, I predict that family will invite everyone over for dinner -- to show the folks the sofa and to eat as a group, once again.

I had been looking for the name of the band Bango-Tango for quite some time.

And you thought Tammy Faye Baker wore a lot of makeup, check out these bands!

and I was egged for my comments

Despite being a Hoosier and regardless whether I want Colts to win, I predict the following result: Chicago Bears win over Indy Colts by 12 points.

splat, splat, TP, splat, flaming bag of poo, burning horseshoe in lawn ... boy are these hicks crazy!

I expect "Blue Sunday" to be followed by Blue (as in sorrowful and quite unproductive) Monday. The Colts just squeeze by, pull a win by a moment only. For this reason, I predict that they won't win. Chicago has been making a mess of the challengers and quite frankly the Colts have valuable players with injuries. I cannot honestly expect a win for the Colts.

traveling back to the 70s for fast food

I went to Purdue, West Lafayette, today. On my way there I had essentially Rap that I didn't like, country to which I don't listen or 70s. I chose '70s music and near Lafayette (not West), there was a 10-mile fast food oil smell that was unavoidable. Now, I didn't see any fast food in the area where I smelled it. It was quite odd.

I heard around 75 minutes of 70s music .. feeling like I went back in time. I turned it to another station that mentioned DVDs, so I know I kept in this time period. Near Logansport I smelled the most wicked batch of sulfer ammonia -- undiscovered 2006 Easter eggs or the wonder of industry and farms -- as speculated by my niece, whom I picked up at Purdue. There are both pig and cattle farms there, as well as a wide section of river and industries. 25 miles East of that are quarries and a US-24 Mount Stinky, aka landfill about .4 miles off the highway.

Delphi had a neat dedication that I shot while stopped at a light.

Here is an ammo, gunshop on the highway. Was there thinking involved here?

I left early afternoon to pick up niece at Purdue. She is good and ready to leave for the weekend. This semester appears to be more challenging and she doesn't much care for all of that. She also had to switch her majors. The good news for the both of us is that I am not taking old clunker aka my car. I borrowed "the van" which is much more comfortable. It'll be 7 before I see this laptop again.

This sucks!

Super vampires. Holy bad cartooning!

My father got a call yesterday from a fellow church member. He doesn't know the family much at all, still the call was distressing. The family's 41 year old son committed suicide.

Damn ... may God have him.

God in Heaven ... my only friend

"Badlands",
Metal Church

.........
I ride alone, the wasteland that I cross
Will take another life, we'll take another loss
I feel a dry wind, dust is in my eyes
The artic cold at night, the earth, it tells me lies

God in heaven, my only friend
Will I live to see my journey's end?
As the world awakens me so hard, my values have been changed
I make a promise to myself: Never again
A dusty godforsaken path, endless to my dismay
I know these are the badlands, somehow I'll find my way

No more paradise, no more soothing rain
All the sacrifice, the pain is all the same
Still I'm pushing onward, alone I can't deny
My presence fills the desert, my spirit never dies

Will these lonely nights ever end?
Will I live to see my journey's end?
As the world awakens me so hard, my values have been changed
I make a promise to myself: Never again
A dusty godforsaken path, endless to my dismay
I know these are the badlands, somehow I'll find my way

The vultures that circle, cloud the empty sky,
Patiently waiting, they wait for me to die
Tortured and beaten, blistered by the sun
Forceful and heartless, have the badlands won?

Still I'm pushing onward, alone I can't deny
My presence fills the desert, my spirit never dies
As the world awakens me so hard, my values have been changed
I make a promise to myself: Never again
A dusty godforsaken path, endless to my dismay
I know these are the badlands, somehow I'll find my way

What, huh?

By far the most bizarre, seemingly real video.

Sperm driver.

Poseidon 06

Unlike the "Adventure", this one is 90 minutes. I think the new version did a nice job of reminding you of the terror and mess involved with the moments after the ship flips. There was a scene where the survivors heard hundreds of screams, then they were silenced. The pace of the movie was quick, but the characters were all expendable. There was a messload of fire all thing considered. I have to submit the following criiques that bugged me.

Overall I think it was around 50-50, so you could watch it in the background doing something else. If you watch it hoping for a good-great movie, you'll be sorry.

[WARNING: SPOILER]

The small band of people were traveling up. They actived a pump that was manual. At the rate of filling, the person in a ship, rightsize up would drown almost instantly. There also isn't a real application regarding daisy chain effect. If the ship is upside-down and is taking on ballast ... where is it drawing ballast, the top?

I liked seeing Andre Braugher as the Captain, though he was used little in the film. Richard Dreyfuss, an old distraught gay man replaces (vibrant old guy who finds a seventeen year old quite attractive -- from Posseidon Adventure). Kevin Dillon as the ass who I thought was going to boink or rape one of the ladies.

The ship was completely sunk, with a ridiculous action scene with propellers moving. There wasn't as much story as flash here.

The survivors basically setting up the ship to sink did provide them with incentive to leave the dead where they were, no matter who they were. The raft with beacon sitting nicely near the ship regardless of explosions -- huh?
