Case study in safety
The man accused of killing and raping victims is not sentenced to death. After serving time and released, he raped and killed again. Now, according to the court, he was found mentally retarded. He will then spend the rest of his life in jail. Now, how is that justice?
He's incapable of making decisions, but is capable of killing and raping. Will being in jail make him better? I think that here, he does pose a threat to society and I believe strongly killing him would make society safer, regardless of his mental situation.

What is sexual predator counseling?
A local man was convicted of molestion of a then-7 year old girl. He was given 12 years, given 108 days credit for time served, which means in 5+ years he could be out. He plead guilty to other molestation counts. Do you want this guy out? I want him dead.
I again ask, as he was assigned "sexual predator counseling", what is it?

timiing, I don't have
Well, the city picks up leaves several times a year. They started early and they picked up piles today. I was too late, having spent 3 some hours at medial office this morning. I raked up leaves and mowed what I could. It looks cleaner now, but mine is the only pile on the street. The other piles were collected 1 pm (ish). Crud!
The weather was cool, I could see my breath, but I was working and it didn't feel that cold. I mowed, seeing little growth of the grass after the two frosts this year. I beleive this will be a harsher winter, despite weather predictions.

Wait and See
Mum had an early eye appointment. Since Father was ill, I drove Mum to, yep, you guessed it ... hospital. The office is in a building attached to hospital, so we had to return to hospital again this year. Yeah -- plecht!
The wait was very long between sessions. On the lighter side, all the personnel there were extremely friendly, courteous and kind. After the 3 some hour session with tests to determine degree and accuracy of diagnosis:
macular degeneration, background diabetic retinopathy, macular pucker (verified by two separate doctors in different buildings). The tests were fairly quick and simple. The Opthomologist's office is to call a week from now with results.
Since I was with Mum, I was allowed to sit with her. We got to see "required" info-videos on the procedures for the situation including one test they used today, fluorescein angiography, which involved injecting redish dye. Thankfully they found a vein in Mum's arm that was fairly easy, they shot the dye and they took pictures.
The office used 35 mm cameras on the end of a huge-scope machine. According to the nurse, the dgital cameras presently don't have the resolution that the doctors want and the digital unit that could be bought costs $20,000. This then leaves the staff there to develop the film on site, what a drag -- in a dark room in the office.
Anyway, the results will be in around a week and Mum will know then.
This hospital has valet parking, which is supposed to be a convenience, but they were always in my way. I didn't use them and getting up to emergency and main lobby entrance was backed up. After Mum was in car, it took some time to exit. Valet parking -- wasted here.
