up the river

One kid is not on the learning curve. Perhaps you know the type who continually burn themselves on a fire.

Booted, written up, suspended ... still, nothing changes. He'll be a fun adult.

In other news, a boy came up to me, unprompted, "My dad's a robber." He later on reported to me that he doesn't live with his father anymore.

War of the Worlds 07 AD (series) iii

By most accounts, the time of the NEO to hit the Earth is in around 10 hours. It appears now that the object will indeed hit the US. Other scientists are scanning for any other objects following this one, but have found none. The object is cylindrical and moving fast. It is not rock in composition, as stated by many. By the size of the object, scientists have guessed that it will strike the US around Missouri, but that the bulk of the material will incinerate in the atmosphere making little meaningful impact. The state of Missouri has been on full alert and all military available have been sent there to assist with any situation that occurs.

Other nations have pledged aid to the US if the damage is severe. Larger metropolitan areas have began curfews and free transportation to other areas. Residents have been requested to leave the area if possible, but strict control has been maintained to prevent rioting, and panic-induced deaths on the highways and in the cities.

FEMA has been pre-alerted to the impending problem that may arise. The President himself has assembled an assessment team and supply-deployment department in conjunction with the state services to provide aid. The Blood Cross is asking anyone who can donate blood to do so early.

The US military is experiencing some difficulties in extracting their military from positions in Iraq since their declared intent to redeploy. The US has slowed its military move within Iraq, due to fatalities and from the assumed little impact of the NEO on one state.

An emergency $50 million in aid is ready for Missouri should disaster befall it.
