Kirk narrowly escaped. His big error was trying to kick the very slow opponent. The "zzzz" ing and, "Stop running. I will be merciful .... quick". He also laughs with a "zzzz" sound.
By the way, Sleeslack was from Land of the Lost 70's Saturday morning show.

Captain Sisko mentions this episode in the "Trials and Tribble-ations" episode of Deep Space 9. When asked if he wanted to meet James Kirk, he said he wanted to ask him about fighting the Gorn on Sestus 3.
