It seems the fastest way to get a republican in trouble is to say "test the mike" or "pose for the camera." This is then Gov. Bush after someone making a smartass remark to him while setting up the camera. Ronald Reagan, his mentor, was asked to test the microphone and he said "Ladies and Gentleman, I've just introduced legislation that will outlaw communism once and for all... we begin bombing in five minutes." Which I thought was hysterical, but the press don't have a sense of humor, I guess. In hindsight, that was said by the guy who ended the cold war without finding a shot (or dropping a bomb).
