HOW could you possibly interpret this as BAD news?! For all the protesting of "No Blood for Oil", now I'm hearing the Dems saying "we won, when do we get the oil?" Turns out it was never about that. Iraq becoming a thriving democracy in the middle east will combat terrorism and HOPEFULLY start a domino affect. The fact that they are re-establishing their economic ties (and, by the way, knocking out more oil than they EVER have) is great for them and great for us. That country has suffered, and they need to make all the money they can while they can to rebuild and stimulate their infrastructure. Less poor, less crime, less terrorism, all those things that come with prosperity.
Generally you go on about the evils of Communism, yet here Communists reap the benefits from this merry little adventure without having that awful thing like investment of supplies, money or personnel.
This is them restoring their previous contracts. And anyone buying oil from Iraq (their ONLY export and ONLY way of making money) is helping Iraq--a democracy. And they ain't gettin' it cheap, either.
