up the river

One kid is not on the learning curve. Perhaps you know the type who continually burn themselves on a fire.

Booted, written up, suspended ... still, nothing changes. He'll be a fun adult.

In other news, a boy came up to me, unprompted, "My dad's a robber." He later on reported to me that he doesn't live with his father anymore.

War of the Worlds 07 AD (series) iii

By most accounts, the time of the NEO to hit the Earth is in around 10 hours. It appears now that the object will indeed hit the US. Other scientists are scanning for any other objects following this one, but have found none. The object is cylindrical and moving fast. It is not rock in composition, as stated by many. By the size of the object, scientists have guessed that it will strike the US around Missouri, but that the bulk of the material will incinerate in the atmosphere making little meaningful impact. The state of Missouri has been on full alert and all military available have been sent there to assist with any situation that occurs.

Other nations have pledged aid to the US if the damage is severe. Larger metropolitan areas have began curfews and free transportation to other areas. Residents have been requested to leave the area if possible, but strict control has been maintained to prevent rioting, and panic-induced deaths on the highways and in the cities.

FEMA has been pre-alerted to the impending problem that may arise. The President himself has assembled an assessment team and supply-deployment department in conjunction with the state services to provide aid. The Blood Cross is asking anyone who can donate blood to do so early.

The US military is experiencing some difficulties in extracting their military from positions in Iraq since their declared intent to redeploy. The US has slowed its military move within Iraq, due to fatalities and from the assumed little impact of the NEO on one state.

An emergency $50 million in aid is ready for Missouri should disaster befall it.

more movie madness

Lord Vader will provide the location of the misplaced reactor keys; misplaced by the now-re-educated-Larry ...
~~~
Hold on, hold on, hold on! You mean to tell me, you built a planet destroyer out of a moon?
~~~
This rebel surrendered to us. He was armed only with this [120 pound case of nuclear explosive bomb]. He claims that's it, but I wish to conduct a full body cavity search.
Very well, commander, you may conduct your search.
Then my father is truly dead.
~~~
Question: if Jengo Fett had accoustic seismic explosives, would they have been better to use on the asteroid field when the falcon was there? I'd think about 10,000 and any debris heading toward the star destroyer would be minimal.
~~~
Sky Captain, have you noticed that there's no one around to be calling you? The entire base has been destroyed, with whom are you talking now?

War of the Worlds 07 AD (series) ep. ii

After 18 hours of its discovery, the NEO 1126F “Urich” is now maybe two days away. From the best estimates from scientists, it will strike the Northern Hemisphere. Europe and the US are collaborating on a solution to a possible Earth-changing/shattering doom. While many nations are volunteering help, no nation had any solution. No rocket could be loaded with any payload to reasonably knock it out of orbit, let alone come close to hitting it. The size of the object made it difficult to effectively hit. The level of damage it might cause is yet, undetermined. From best guessing, the NEO is an ejected part from some ancient collision, seemingly from no known planet.

Scanning has revealed that it has some metallic qualities to it, possibly. It is oblong &/or cylindrical. Nothing else could reliably be determined.

The US has drawn much of its military back from Iraq trying to brace itself for a possible calamity. While the troops will not likely be out of Iraq within the strike window, they are being pulled away and redeployed to other areas, Qatar, Egypt, and parts of Kuwait. The Iraqi insurgents and infiltrators are pushing forth with a near visible line of troops and supplies from Syria and Jordan. Iran is also sending troops along the border of Iraq.

The US has deployed military and service men and coast guard personnel to larger metropolitan areas to maintain control and to curtail rioting. The US press secretary has stated that there is no good reason to panic as the object may be small enough that any damage may be as minor as a tropical depression, as well not being actually hitting US soil. He stated today that his advisors are stating that the object is in a position to strike the ocean and not any land area in the US or any other nation.

The man enters the room

After 90 seconds of an odd greating of Charlie yelling, "Hi", hugging me then doing slapstick, He runs up and starts punching me. Madison, who was also there, joins the gang mentality and punches me. After two minutes of continual punching, I had to stop all further punching. No individual punch hurt, but after around 30, they were starting to accumulate; like pestering a sore.

Amy mentioned that she doesn't get that kind of a greeting. They soon after turned their "assault" on Monkeyjack, who was less-inclined to wrestle and be punched.

zippers are great inventions

especially when they keep you from flying out of a trampoline net and onto solid pavement. Ouch! Charlie did just that tonight! Bounce, bounce -- [bounce out hit], back onto his feet stumbling around, picked up by Daddy (all within the spanse of 6 seconds).

The emergency room crew stated that he was okay.

Grass

Boy oh boy! I love the smell of wet, rotting grass. Yumm... yummmm .... puke! Ah, the trash man gets this waste and Waste Management can have it! Eww!! Biodegradable and foul! Animals eat this do they?

I saw this in '99

Hologram, as it were, only if viewed from above. I was at a teacher's science convention and they had one of these things. Neat!

War of the Worlds 07 AD (series)

After some work, the US has discovered a NEO (Near Earth Object) approaching. Its speed is difficult to determine. Other nations are verifying the object. Best guess conjectures are that the object will be close to Earth within 3 days. It is relatively small and a wonder that it was found, still its course leads it to strike Earth fairly directly, which would cause a possible global change.

The object is of indeterminate material, appearing oblong, but few other details are available. The US has not announced plans for safety or intercept of object. The Japanese are scrambling to prep a rocket for investigation, but local storms are likely to scrub any misison.

unfriendly topic

according to [name deleted], there are a few freaks who prefer to work night shifts at the morgue to ... uh, prepare the dead. Say. That once-was-a-person, is kinda cute with their mouth sewn shut and their rigor long-since gone. I'll just heat up some fluid and have a hot one ... no one will know. They're so ... posable and accomidating.

-- here's where you puke, by the way ---

then they dress 'em and apply the makeup and get them ready for the casket for presentation. I would suspect they same necros would prefer to think that other necros would have them post life.

Uh ... you mount and stuff during taxidermy, not funeral prep ... sicko! I would think that this would be more of a guy thing than a woman things as ... well ... it'd be more appliances attached -- essentially flesh dildo. What would be the point, eh?

more on line-steppers

I was waiting for, "I dare ya ta expell me!"
"Now that oughta do it!"

Habitual line-steppers

In the class with which I have been working, three. I sadly don't get to check 'em back into place.

[front quick, mid kick] aohaohhghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Smash into glass object.
I think I'm bleedin' into my chest.

I guess I should have known there was a problem when they stepped into the room, claiming, "Darkness! Darkness, everyone!"

I would, however, be the first one on the, "What did the five fingers say to the face?"
"I don't know."
Slap! [slap]

"What did the paddle say to the ___?"
"What?"
[whack!]

"Do they speak English in What?"
"What?"

The same night we watched hot pursuit (police car chases) and an episode of DS 9 -- beginning of the war, where the space station is evacuated and taken over by the evil ones. At the end of the episode, the freedom fighters knocked out a "crack house" required to keep one race in line and not sociopathic killers, in doing so they left themselves on a slow boat to China. It will take us 17 years, 8 months ... to get to neutral space -- ouch!

paper, cutting, following instructions

nothing happened like it was supposed to:
paper folded horizontal, not vertical
cutting wrong parts
+ smudging of glue
______________
mess

My ideas hold to fold, like some of their papers, with bad creases and corners not meeting. It was a lesson on cutting, colors and more, but in the end proving that they didn't have enough experience cutting and following directions.

bad sign?

Last weekend, the priest dropped the rings. I'm sure it means nothing, but comical.

potentially good news

Mum might leave hospital tomorrow (Thursday) -- maybe, but will have a permanent change in meds now

I may be with the class a bit longer, as the teacher has not been released to go to work.

Leaving in a hurry

I was walking the kids out to the bus today when one child decided to pull the fire alarm. Needless to say, most people were already near the exits or out of the school, but were informed within three minutes that there was no fire. I saw her pull the handle and she threw a fit being yanked back inside and to the office. She wouldn't go there for me and threw herself on the ground. The FD charges $400 per incident. They plan on sending the bill to the Mom. This same kid tried to steal a wallet sitting on a kid's desk, right in front of the whole class -- 1st grade. She'll be a winner for sure.

Tormentors

Equally bad as Harry Potter's dementors

He said, she said, in the middle of bickering -- signs says you got to have a membership care to get inside; huah!

"I'm not touching you", heard on Monday
Mr. ______________, [name exempted] is touching me.
Is he playing tag with you?
No. (dubious repsonse, as all five children ran off in same direction), earlier I was "base" despite my statements to the contrary.

Yell, scream, throw a fit -- understandable for 2-4, but 6 or 7, unsightly. Adults throw them too, but I'm interested in the students developing into adults ... from that school 86.4 some percent will make adulthood. On average, 80% will make it through adulthood. The US has a mortality rate < 50%, especially with illegal immigration and urban overabundance (lupus proclivity) or Rattus norvegicus (species variant A, not wild type), aka street urchin, social leech--may they all develop (not "lead poisoning"*1)

I know that I have felt like my soul's been painfully sucked from my being with some of the students, their families an their experiences. I used to donate to RAINN, but haven't had the money. Tori Amos, while no longer the best spokesperson for the organization, didn entice me to donate.

In somewhat related news, Notre Dame (catholic) has agreed, grudgingly to host Vagina Monologues, generally concerning women's issues, including incest and rape. Unlike Corpus Cristi (picece de gayiety) I rejoice in the school's introduction of this cathartic poetry and monologuing, for it serves a purpose. I was tempted to attend while it was in town, though it might send the message of "perv", I was interested in the work, the years or decades long expelling of old ... rejoicing in being a woman and refreshing of the self. I could have only assumed many things, but happy for their associate healing.
