Gradually degenerating into ignorance and complacency.

single serve

Since Kayden has chosen to feed himself, as he bulks quite a bit about being fed, I am trying to make single servings of meals for him:  eggs, noodles, meat, fruits, selected veggies.  I was instantly reminded of, "single service friends", from Fight Club, and yes, witty has carried me far.

For you Kayden, the work I do will pay off, I hope to see you independent of me earlier than otherwise might have been.

grim

I applied to the county to work as a corrections officer.  While I made it through a couple of steps in the process, I was not selected to continue.  When I saw the jail from the inside, I am confirmed that many should do this, it looks grim and boring and enough to drive a sane man nuts.  I saw many closet-sized rooms facing a common room which was for all meals and sitting.  There was a single TV with the weather channel playing.  The scant windows there were frosted so that only a small portion showed the true outside world, sadly facing more brick.  An interesting question I was asked in the interview was, "have you ever been in a fight".  I guess my avoidance of physical fights was not helpful in this adventure, as physical fights are common in the jail, understandable as there are lots of people in close quarters for 16 - 18 hours daily.  I am sure tensions run high.

Still, the experience was well worth it and I can attest that the officers there have a very tense, disturbing job for which they are not likely given the appreciation.  I was reminded of the Drill Sergent in Full Metal Jacket having the platoon sing happy birthday dear Jesus, when the corporal said he sang something of the kind on one Christmas including the term, "lockdown".

For any officer who reads this, already I appreciated police for their many efforts, often given snide attitudes when upholding the law.  Know now that I understand even more the trials and challenges that you endure protecting inmates from themselves and each other daily, throughout the year.

Haired to less. I gre my mustache for Tawnya but shaved it yesterday as it was driving me crazy. Today I was cutting my hair and made an error. Looking like a peach it will be cool until it grows out. Oops

1 short version of work

I got an office with a good partner. After 4 some months, I have put it about right again. I hope that we get more people out of our office so that I have a steady stream of things to continue to start. I have many small projects, but I'm eager to get new people started. Thankfully, I like my job!

Neena sleeps in laundry

Neena loves warm laundry and fell asleep. She has taken a hold of me and commands me often. she prefers being hand-fed wet food and treats. She was rescued from the Whitley County Animal shelter and I think she rescues me sometimes ... in ensuring that I keep level-headed and spend my time playing. When the dog isn't here, she has free range as she prefers.

misprints?

faster method

While the Ohio judicial system couldn't find a vein for a lethal injection, a man pointed out that bullets are more capable of finding difficult-to-find veins. While the suggestion was sadly dismissed, it is indeed a viable option that more states should take.

random stupid thoughts

I got a job as an imaginary estate agent. I don't have any clients yet.

I was asked my favorite position and I said, "fetal". Later on I found out they have an understood context that my response didn't answer.

I went to the unemployment office and am eligible for re-employment. Well, I already knew that.

I was angered when I saw my investment form ... I got a statement showing my 401 negative K. It was 401 Special K, but that was a lie too.

reminder of how weak you are

Tawnya got a puppy on Sunday. He was a cute little puppy who "didn't like men". Well, he took a liking to me and would follow me wherever I went. He wrestled with me, suckled on my arm and snuggled next to me.

That was Sunday, Monday, and part of Tuesday.

On Wednesday, his previously unrecognized parvo took a toll on him and he had to be put down.

It reminded me that we come into the world weak, and only with love, security, and luck do we survive any length of time.

Goodnight Scooby!

hive

Dad chopped down some limbs and branches from the sickly front tree. He didn't notice but I found a paper wasp nest. I showed Morgan, the little girl next door. She thought the larvae squirming around were funny. I suppose so. I usually don't harm things, including insects, but I know from experience that wasps can be aggressive and protect nests. Kids, especially, pay the price for the wasps' aggression. I sprayed the hive after I took the photo.

writing

I haven't written in a bit.

I am a bit beaten and feeling rundown. I look at the screen and have typers' block. I may soon write again. Maybe that and walking will make me feel like a person again.

planned to fail?

Maybe they should have someone edit their work.

poisoned

I got poison ivy and after the Calamine lotion, I look like a worker from a whale-semen collection facility. My arms are whitish pink with streaks rather like I shielded myself from a high-velocity discharge.

To add to it, my one section was leaking like an old radiator. Whoo! I suggest against getting poison ivy. I didn't really itch that much, but boy was it gross.

I have some medicine (anti-biotics) that should clear up my ivy and my body's reaction.
