paths (of Franke Park)

I guess it is the path and steps we take that define our journey. We all live; we all die. We all struggle in many ways. I suppose I ought to enjoy a bit of the view on my trip, my journey, my epic of life.

dilema

I was walking along the creek in Franke Park when I heard some person ahead on the other side. Then,

So, although there was no fire, I was left with WTF? I looked in time to see the jerk there lob a rock at a high rate of speed toward the bank. I heard ducks quacking, so I understood his target. I walked up to see a something feathered fighting in the water. I had my camera with me. The man was clearly guilty of cruelty to animals.

I thought the dying thing was the mother, no. It might be the father, no. It was a poor duckling, half-killed. It floundered on its side, apt to drown. So ... why didn't I take his picture, call the cops, make a scene ...

His dog beside him. He had, what looked like, a Dire Wolf. It was massive. Now, I'm not worried so much, but, I can only assume a man who would kill or half-kill a duckling would easily injure or torture animals, like his poor pet there. I could not be sure if the dog would be a trained killer. Only a small creek separated us and the dog, swimmer or not, would catch me easily despite my initial advantage.

So, was I wrong to merely make myself known so that he would walk away from the scene, or should I have made a scene? I really wanted the guy arrested, if for nothing else than a warning. What a sick jerk, yet I feel unhappy that I seemingly did nothing.

Angry words

So I had on for a few moments, MSNBC and there was some fool bantering on. Apparently the military found a cashe of material for weapons-making. The newscaster was stupid enough to point out that none of the material was marked as coming from Iran, Jordan, or Syria.

Really? No crap!

OK. That's one half-tonne of radioactive material, one various ballistic missile parts blister pack, and a grand deluxe tea. That will be three free political pardons, twenty American pounds of Cocaine, and fourteen shares of OPEC.

I mean, Anne only photographed a naked John Lennon next to Ono on the cover of Rolling Stone. I'm sure that she'd never do anything "racey" or "obscene". That's exactly why Miley should have been shocked when Demi Moore, pregnant and naked, photographer positioned her into sexual poses. It certainly couldn't have been bad or sexual pictures if she were to expose her naked back and cover herself with a sheet on the front.

Oh, no ... not sexual at all. Clearly sprawling out in 80's Madonna dance poses isn't suggestive. Yeah, Miley was completely snowed by the cunning of the poorly chosen photographer who doesn't mind softcore on magazines.

To blame: Miley, her father, photographer, magazine.

The, "I'm sorry" comes as little consolation after that. I mean, Disney's squeaky clean image was tarnished with just that! It never got a punch in the chin with Britney Spears wearing body suits and dancing like a succubus or mouth-kissing Madonna an older bi-sexual. It never hurt Disney with Lindsley Lohan and showing off her drinking and debauchery. Justin Timberlake never did anything bad, like "Dick In a Box", or maybe he did.

Clearly, none of these children ever made a decision of their own to be poor role models, prone to growing up, and living in a false reality of entertainment. "I shouldn't have to suffer any consequences, after all, I'm America's sweetheart!"

Fort Wayne wears pink for Breast Cancer and Vera Bradley will have the classic open sometime. Fort Wayne was blessed recently with a Vera Bradley facility near the GM Plant. Whoo, hoo!

I got to walk with a friend today. We walked on the "Beginner" trail, which apparently was a last name. The possible bike trail was like... "unholy ---", thankfully we were walking. She was hoping for a simpler walk, but it wound up being quite a nice little hike. She was on a time scale, so was worried about getting back in time. We made it clear, no worries. She had the misfortune of having to work in the afternoon. Yoikes and away!

I stayed a while there took a few more shots than returned to Fort Wayne and took a few more in downtown. Freimann Square has tulips, nearly finished, in bloom. It was quite a sight! I parked a few blocks away, but saw by the parking meter that my walk and photo shoot lasted only 20 some minutes in downtown. I was a little tired on my return.

Lion, the Witch, Wardrobe AND a book on the Holocaust

Well, I read this short little story. It was OK knowing the audience and the time in which it was written. I found it annoying that the author talked with the reader as if he were in the room. I would also argue against the editors naming the Witch as "Her" not "her". "He" in the middle of a sentence refers to God or, the embodiment, Jesus. I would not impart the level of greatness of God to a character, either Satan or its equivalent.

I don't know which versions others read, but I didn't read where the lion bites off the head of the witch. Hmmm, something amiss with the one I read?

Anyway, I would dare say C.S. Lewis' style is broadly better than other authors in that he doesn't drone on and on about some minor thing. As example:

The branch of the vein, the third from the bottom, stretched in an unusually way, spanning like the tributaries of the Nile, some broad, some narrow, opposing each other as if in debate. The smaller ridges like water and the higher ridges like pillars ...

So, anyway, the killer stepped across the field in autumn, crunching the leaves noisily leaving the scene.

Lewis generally just gave you a glimpse of something and let you paint the world as you liked it, after all, it is a children's tale. It isn't a bad tale, but limited on a few details that, in a modern sense could have been better. I will continue to read the series.

What you didn't read clearly was the beginning credits showed, "based on 'THE TRUE STORY'". What the? It wasn't based on A true story, but rather "The true story". Bogus!
Well, it was okay, with some typical sound crappiness.

whisper, whisper, whisper ... BOOM, CRASH, BLAM!!! [sound of needle hitting the floor] then sound of NASA shuttle taking off is the music.

Uh, could you go ahead and re-edit the sound please? I switched to subtitles. It was just all kind of loud, except for the voices. The end was a bit cheesy with, "here they come to save the day!" (Mighty Mouse theme).

I could nitpick it, but will finalize it was, C+ for story, B for story flow, C for acting, F for sound, 0.00 for re-watchability. The fight scenes were OK, but lacked some --- thing. I don't believe that Zeppelins traveled at the same rate of speed as fighters, so ... I could mention that.

Evan Alimighty

It was okay. While some of the schtick was unworthy, and "I am averting my eyes". Oh, stop it! Get on with it!

Oh, right. Anyway, the end is lackluster. The movie as a whole was okay, but lacked the general basis of Genesis and the whole wiping the slate clean theme. I would rank it as pretty good.

I like Steve Carroll and was surprised this time with a cameo by Jon Stewart (very small -- as seen in a room on TV).

Sharp dressed man

I wasn't "sharply" dressed, but rather looked out of place downtown Noblesville during the old car show. I didn't know it was happening, I just came across it by luck. I didn't see ZZ Top anywhere near this vehicle. Driving the circle around the town hall and history museum were fly guys wanting show off their big money. There were BMW, Rolls, super-expensive cycles, new corvettes, and more. A Studebaker owner proudly announced that he got his, as is, from eBay for under $40,000, driving it back from Pennsylvania.

Cool cars, but they are for collecting, not driving much. It just takes one fool like me to drive badly and smash into it to totally ruin the car.

The Supreme Court this year weighs on several key points. One of the ones mentioned was the death penalty for child-rapists. Well, I'm all for executing child-rapists!+ I would hazard to guess that the "rights of Guantanamo Bay detainees" will be summarily not adjudicated by reason that it is contractually a military process of arrest, detainment and hearing, which is not subject to much review under Federal law. I believe few convicts from court martial have their case heard by the Supreme Court for it falls under the jurisdiction of the military.

+ If Indiana adopts this enforces this and they are "lacking the people to carry out the sentence", they I will offer my services to follow their procedure and ensure the convicted by due process of law is properly executed.

turned 60

Well, Israel turned sixty. That's great! NPR had some people speak on the subject. While I cannot remember or type verbatim what each one said, essentially they were happy with the existence of Israel.

One Palestinian remarked that Israel has given up enough. He, as an Arab Palestinian living in Israel, felt unwelcome in Palestine.

Another woman is a teacher in teacher in Israel teaching Israeli and Arab children to be "tomorrow's leaders". Interestingly enough, she spoke perfect English+.

+ If she can master three languages, why can't Americans become fluent in just the one American English?
