more travel by the while

After walking for so many miles, I have become sunburned and muddied. I also bear the scars of thickets. Ah, the cost of walking the less beaten trail.
Haary Baals Drive in Fort Wayne, Johnny Appleseed Camp facing Coliseum Blvd. The bushes are lovely.
Dam long walk on some days.
A short bridge to soccer fields. This is Shoaff Park in Fort Wayne. Sadly, the locals in the area were discharging weapons in their yard.
This is on the North end of Shoaff Golf Course. This pond hosted many geese, none of whom liked me being there.
Metal, rusted, ladder down. I had to hold the hand rail for I couldn't see the individual steps for the brown mud, leaves and rust.
Higher ground, but not morally. This is a high spot overlooking St. Joseph River
The depth here you can't see well. It was an edge to the bank. It fell about 12 feet forward into the river and about 12 feet down. I won't bother going into the math to find the hypotenuse of the right triangle.
I found a lone, mostly hidden face in a birdhouse. "You can't see me", I believe is the message I was to get.
In Shoaff Park, I took the uncleared river path that was narrow, steep, full of thickets. Here is an example.
What I don't have is a clear picture of reeds that appear to be "bamboo" that I listed as straw in an earlier post, as runoff material likely from fields. Bamboo from Indiana? Who knew?
Pink and lovely now will burst forth into white-pink blossoms, then stay green until fall.
Ah, a human-made shanty lean-to. I wonder how many squatters reside there?
St. Joseph River at the bank. I later saw two speedboats with riders.
I nearly didn't leave, for as you can see my shoes sank like quicksand into the mud.
small pond at Shoaff Park that meets the pavilion and the lot linking to the children's playsets.
an old school that is closed but seemed to be used as an art studio by someone
it is on 100 N. near Ossian, IN
Tinman in Ossian ... OK, he is a sheet metal man for an AC business, but still odd.
old fugal grwoth in Fogwell Forest, IN part of Acres Land Trust
peel apart tree, not a banana, in Fogwell Forest
along a scant trail from Fogwell Forest to a private residence of horse owners, this anthill was 24-30 inches wide
Fogwell Forest is green and alive, but mostly quiet when I went. The mosquitoes were not pestering me ...
yet.

OUT

I got out some aggression. I have a bit more. While my more tangible demon is out, there is still the fire left behind -- stress and curious wonder with the destruction it left behind. The "thing" I mentioned in F' Off is still a problem, though not as "close". I'm not sure that I need to kill it, I just wish it would fade away -- dying from Earth and memory.

Marked down

It's a shame when I read Lio by Mark Tatulli that I reasonably infer that he is denounced for his characters' rude behaviors. If that is the case, the protesting group must not have ever read or protested Calvin & Hobbs, Far Side, Opus, Doonsbury, et. al. I wonder if those same people ever read or protested those cartoons? The same might be reasonably remarked about Shrek.

I like his work. Heart of the City smacks of allusions more relevant to my generation including Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Star Trek, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Reagan years.

99.9999 percent of the antics of Lio cannot be duplicated. Is there a child who can put together a 50' robot that terrorizes the town? There are far fetched battle dramatics between a strange boy and his interest, an equally strange girl who will have nothing to do with him. Generally, Lio spend his time in working on his next great adventure or is kind to even the disenchanted "monsters" of many fears -- those that lurk under the bed.

So, whether the persons protesting are editors or readers, shove off and let interested readers be delighted in with his endeavors.

random thought

Hey, Kang. They are praising us finally.

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
have this wish I wish tonight.

No, Kodos. You're stupid, they think we are a star.

aliens randomly assume they are worshiped.

raccoons sing

I went out for a walk tonight, making walk number three putting me near the 10 (+, -) mile mark. In the course of my walking I found a road I've never traveled. At the end of it is a junkyard. No interest there, but ... there were many raccoons purring and making noises. If I were to guess, I would make 20, but I'm sure there weren't that many. Anyway, while it was a nice cool night, it was otherwise lackluster.

eww, don't go there!

Uh, I think I'll use the next one.

Just an FYI, this bathroom was not presently in use. I was in an outside location that had not "opened for the season". I would not and will not tote a camera into a restroom to do shots.

Blecht!

4 sale

house for sale, unappealing

pitch

I've been grumbling about many things. It's much like the old, bitching me. I then, after hours of walking, came across a truism. I am loved. I have much! I have the chance and ability to love others. I do love others.

It was a wild pitch ... grounding curve fast ball, yet ... I hit it. I got it. The ball is in flight. I don't see a homer, (doh!), but do see a possible double. God threw an idea to me and I got it!

cranky

many things line the roads, streets, roads ... muck, trash and stuff. One strange thing, a crushed handle -- crank to nothing. It's not crank, the drug, for that would have been snatched up like candy -- I think.

While some animals don't mind the interloping human, some critters get feisty. Generally the older squirrels look on humans with mild disdain for they drive the road and honk at squirrels to hurry while they would rather stand in the road and do nothing.

Not surprising, small dogs are the fiercest while older, larger dogs are either docile or disinterested in the aggressive game. I walked down an old road spying a house, interesting design. I never got to the end of the street for a lone dog was on a porch. I thought ... leash, but it had none.

Hmm ... it probably wasn't used to too many walkers in this area, so I wondered ... walk forward, back, hmmm. My actions were decided for me for she noiselessly glided across the lawn with some lumbering. There she was. I put down my camera allowing her to smell me, make a choice. She moved forward and at my scratch of her back -- uh.

She responded like an overburdened pack animal suddenly unloaded -- free of anything on her sore back. She was shedding and it clumped off in wads. She first had her head pushed into my chest, then tipped over so that I could rub her belly and chest equally. I lightly brushed fur from her eyes. I left her and she slowly walked back to the porch. She was in need of a bath -- days of dirt and skin oils, dry fur told her need for cleaning.

I heard more angry dog voices later. An old man with an older grass-cutting tractor slowed traffic. Remember the title, "cranky"? They were none-too pleased with the slowness of his short 4 house trip to his over-filled shed garage. A man mowing a church's lawn stopped his engine so that I could pass without getting tarred and feathered, grass style. How kind was that? I thanked him.

I was later at Foster Park and there was a couple of people behind me that I wanted to slap silly. Nearly telling everyone plainly, "We are so obnoxious! We want everyone to look at us! We are loud and crude. It doesn't matter if there are golfers nearby. We will be loud and one-third of our language profanity!" While this might have been nearly courtesy, instead, they were perhaps too stupid to notice their own inconsiderate behaviors. While the most of the people on the track were walking, quietly or talking to each other in quieted tones -- these three were, well, unlikeable. Now I was cranky.

Apart from the stank and stink of tobacco, my trip was nice. Foster Park hosting many walks of families of many ages. Some people in desperate need of walking were in their cars listening to music. I guess seeing flowers from a car seat is just as good, right? I guess moving your butt to change the CD track is like walking.

Why go there if you don't ever leave your car on a rainless day with a lovely sun, breeze, the smell of fresh new life?

Barbie ....

sorry, one photo in the last collection was Barbie. Rather than soil the collection, I'll note that I found it starkly ironic that near a middle school drive, I found this discarded Barbie. From my experience with kids ... it is equally likely that she was accidentally pitched with regular play in a car seat. She might also have been thrown in the curious flight ability of Barbie. Of course, unlike a boomerang, she didn't fly back.

why walk at all?

All courtesy of Allen County in Indiana. Some is from Foster Park, others from scatterred locations along roads. More to come, I assure you.

This was from a 15 mile day. Wow ... legs weren't tired, but my shoes hurt my feet. It's time for new ones, I think seriously.

born June 21, 1972; died ...

I was walking through a poorly-maintained cemetery. I don't know what was most scary. I wondered if there are always crows there. Crows are a common theme in horror movies and games and actually have a mythological symbolism with death. There were graves from 2007 that bore no grass. There were other 2000, 2002, 1998 graves that grew no grass. I hope that they were "relocated" to this place. There were markers broken and some overgrown with grass or buried in dirt. One was, as Tuko would call, "un-ck, un-ck"+ otherwise unknown as the cheap marker had -- ghastly, removable letters.

As I was leaving, a couple came up in a truck -- 8:40 something in the evening. There was hardly light. Still, as they sat in their truck, perhaps waving to the grave ... I wondered if they could have at least left the truck. I heard doors close, so perhaps they thought better of it. I find no joy in cemeteries, but interest. One grave site was the place of a decade(s)-old tree. Another ... a hodgepodge of markers, too many for one small place.

Another sight was large enough for three coffins. Either the one dead man there was REALLY large or they got sloppy.

The weirdest thing there really, was born some date and then the "awaiting" date for death. While I understand a loved one dying first ... there was a single plot waiting on its body. There was a couple who bought a plot, but were maybe 50s, neither were dead.

Sad to ponder were the young ... some 19, 13, few years ... some mere months or days. Still, many were forgotten, dirtied with time. Headstones for the living, but generally ignored.

Thanks to MR for PH news

Pizza Hut manager arrested for selling MJ from drive-thru window. The fresh herb pasta is REALLY fresh "herb". All natural ingredients. It's only $200. Uh, OK. Honey, you better like this pizza!

Although released on bail, Aaron will go from Hut to Butt.... "round thing in your face...". Management didn't equip you to deal with real dangers.

small things

I had a short walk along Foster Park's south side where they are doing construction. While the foot path is block to pedestrian traffic, I used the wooded path. During my trek I heard, maybe three people working. They have about a mile some blocked. I think they don't want taxpayers to know that the group selected is slower than evolution. I think that they ought to put up the start of walls and let them evolve at a faster rate than they are constructing them. I think the Parks & Rec are doing the work. 14 managers, 7 assistant managers, 4 leaders, 1 worker.
This lonely little ball was either lost by the high water or by the high wind, either way -- lost to its owner.
On what had been the trail, there were post grills much like you would see in some state parks. It is old and here, inaccessible.
This is a falcon's nest. One of the parents was following me around. I guess it was protecting the nest and watching to see if I hunted, gutted and left food for the bird. The young birds made a lot of noise, making them easy to find.
I photographed this log years ago with my 35mm with a chipmunk on it. Here, it is still around ... still a nursery for ants.
nice clear deer print
Oil? Oh, no! Alert the media so they can go into a tyrat about the ecology and the dangers of pollution and the destruction of humanity and...
stepping away from that, there are many natural causes for "oily" appearing water and mud.
Decaying matter, including and especially animals leave such a mess. Animals' excrement is also nasty stuff. It also could be plant-based oils and it might be worm goo. I wouldn't put it past someone or group to go into a tizzy over such a find.
If you will note here, for those worried about the ecology, the small creek here is ... dum, dum, dum, dum ... clear! The ground water is OK. The river, however gets runoff from many locations, businesses and farms. Do not drink it, eh! Think ... Ganges River.
Muse, in front of the Botantical Gardens.
How Fort Wayne gets drinkable water -- filteration plant. In my experience, better tasting that Indianapolis, SW Allen County, Warsaw, and many other parts of Indiana.
In a small now-vacant lot, there are rows of flowers ... planted by someone. I assume the owner.
Although I wouldn't want the well water or the propane for heat or the septic system, this is, nonteheless a quaint little house. (New Haven, IN)
Runoff gives Fort Wayne interesting strata. Typically mud and clay, here you can see sand from high water.
I am sure that some animal (s) sleep here.

it no longer likes me

my stomach .... it must hate me. Two days now, at night, my stomach pains ... ouch, I'm unhappy it makes clear with inside punches and a solid feel, bricks forming in a kiln. What gives? I didn't eat anything odd ... what is it?

doesn't that beat all?

Some researchers claim that you can beat some cancer by beating off. I guess some are more therapy-driven than others. How did they test it. "So, tell me sir... how often do you whack off?"

"Dude, I've jacked it twice since I've been here."

Perhaps they collected and some were more, um... giving than others. How would you like to be on that team? Constantly having to remind people that the sink, soap, disinfectant are over there.

Yeah .... that's what we did!

Drug sales at a high school. That isn't very newsworthy, though I'm glad they got caught. What is newsworthy is the "adults" being fooled with the witnesses' lies.

'Yeah, see ... I bought the drugs with money, then pitched the drugs.'

Um ... I don't think so.

to be presidente de Iran

First: provoke, advocate, and teach violence.
Second: Denounce America
Third: expand your territory
Four: repeat

In step two, denouncing America, the prez questions the United States' version of 9/11. That makes sense coming from a man and government who wants to kill America, Israel, oh and any other non-Shiite Muslims. I mean, that alone makes him credible, right?

concentrate on "stinc"

Resident Evil Extinction. Boy, you'd be surprised, it wasn't at all good. It stunk, though I expected nothing from it. Opening battle -- useless. So she is lured to a site with armed people. One man was going to rape her, but is instantly killed. They don't rape her then, but knock her out, drop her into a hole with undead dogs that she kills and lets the others kill her kidnappers.

So why did they lure one of the few remaining humans to a trap for rape? Moreover, how can anyone be fat if there is virtually no food remaining? I won't continue on why it was bad.

Yep -- had cuties: Claire, Alice, KMart ... et al. but not worth watching
