I got two phone calls today:
1. Paralyzed Hoosier Veterans; thankfully I ccould cut him off short, to two minutes declining to contribute.
2. Government Grants called me about that "grant" I pursued "a couple of months ago". "That was last year", I told the phone operator. She was at a loss for words.

They apparently filter fly-by-night, impulsive projects by waiting them out.
"my research collapsed for lack of funding. I HAD it! I had a perpetual motion machine, but now it'll languish, unfinished in the basement while I stitch together body parts and shoot them full of lightning to see if the villager will chase it back up the mountain."
