Comcast ... pending

Well, for TM's sake, Comcast is really trying. I will hold off on the glowing remarks until the system shows stability, but so far Comcast, as a company shows they they do indeed care and have been contacting TM and I about the issue.

Comcast, if it works, I will certianly recognize your efforts.

I completely dumped Comcast a long time ago. I was a Verizon TV-Internet-Phone early adopter.

My neighbor and I both have Verizon, but we get different service. I get awesome service and he is ready to dump them every other day. He's talking to the same people I am, but he talks to them... differently. Makes ALL the difference in the world. There is an "a-hole" tax paid at in time that is determined by the person who answers your call. I'm in that business, and I certaintly have enough work that I have some personal discretion as to what I will work on. I have had people who were so nice to me: "hey, whenever you get time, sorry to bother you..." that shoots them to the top of the list and they receive solutions in real-time. Others, I've known EXACTLY what their problem was and EXACTLY how to fix it, but I couldn't stand talking to them, so they languished in the queue.

And why am I harping on this issue? What the HELL is my problem, anyway? I wouldn't mention it, but I saw a professional career consultant on TV the other day who confirmed this. I think your success with tech support is a metaphor that is directly related to your job hunt. In essense, the career advisor said: "even in this economy, if you go past 45 days without work something is fundamentally wrong with your approach." Then he actually suggested that people in that situation go back to a post-depression era book and read How to Win Friends and Influence People. That you need to go "Back to the Basics" of human interaction: eye contact, remembering names, natural vocabulary, etc. Basically, how to cast off reclusiveness and relate to people... even the ones you don't like.

So, there you go, that's what he said and I'm passing that along after reading your chat transcript. Anyway, it'll be good to see you teaching again and pursuing other avenues. Oddly enough *I* will feel better when you're gamefully employed.
